Entering in his 12th year of coaching Akil St. Louis has amassed a winning pedigree with getting to know each student-athlete and committing a plan that carries out a winning culture. Coach Akil has been successful at every level of the sport, whether it has been club track and field, high school and now college athletics. Throughout his tenure as a volunteer assistant at Long Island University Coach Akil worked with the middle and long distance runners and his primary focuses were the strength and conditioning aspect. Also while making a plan that benefited the runner speed endurance, hip flexibility, core strength and distance runs. After one successful year at Long Island University, St. Louis went on to Bishop Ford High School in Brooklyn New York. In one year the winning tradition continued with the girls Distance Medley Relay team being ranked third in the country, boys team winning cross country borough champs and lastly an indoor and outdoor championship in the CHSAA. After four years at Bishop Ford High School, St. Louis was hired by St. Joseph High School also in Brooklyn New York and was giving the task of starting a track and field team. In three short years at the all girls Catholic school the young team was able to win the 4x400 meter relay and were crowned NY State Federation champs in 2019, numerous city individual crowns, Millrose qualifiers, and State qualifiers. his Currently an assistant track and field coach at the College of Staten Island. Coach Akil as many may call him has been successfully produced All-Conference weekly honors and recently helped groom and produce 400 meter champion in both the CUNY Conference and East Coast Conference in 2020.
